Red DO Empordá (6 months in barrels)

The idea of making a wine in Girona made us think about labelling it with the phone area code of the province, which is 972. The number 7 is written as SET; it’s a catalan wordgame: set means thirst.

The wine is made in Garriguella, in vineyards selected by Jordi Oliver. The terroir is markedly clayey, with granite and slate.

The area is chosen to guarantee the ripening of the grape in case of little rain and to ensure that the grapes don’t dry before harvest because of the clay retaining humidity.

The garnatxa (60%) gives a touch of fresh fruit, cherries, the varietal complexity and the authenticity of the area. With merlot (15%) we bring some sweetness, colour and roundness.

The cabernet sauvignon (10%) brings structure and power. Cabernet franc (15%) helps the wine to be drunk now, with notes of violet and gives the ingredients that harmonize the whole.

The wine goes through barrels during 6 months.

Cherry-garnet colour. Mineral graphite aromas, plum and ripe cherries. The varietal predominant stands out and has a marked touch of very well integrated wood. In the mouth it is wide, filling all the parts. Soft tannins. Ripe cherries, plums and sweet spices. It has a good persistence.
